Abstract

The high crime risk requires every individual to have sensitivity/alertness to avoid the risk of becoming a victim. One of effort that can be done is to equip the community by mapping or location markers and applying the location-awareness function to provide warnings to the general public and visitors in Makassar City regarding locations prone to crime in order to avoid these locations or be more careful. This supports efforts to realize a smart society as one of the elements of the smart city program in the city of Makassar. Location awareness technology refers to the device’s ability to actively determine location/coordinates, analyze location status, as well as provide information or notifications/recommendations to users based on the results of the location status analysis. The warning system for crime-prone points is in the form of a mobile application that specifically functions to analyze and provide information/warning about the vulnerability status of locations around the user by utilizing the GPS function on a smartphone. The application test results show that this application can run well on three generations of the Android platform,namely Android 7th, 11th, and 12th with a response time of under 6 seconds. The best response time is obtained on Android 12th, which is 2,59 seconds. Similarly, feature testing on the three platforms perfectly runs according to their function
